I’m in the process now of uploading Dave Witzig’s video commerce presentation to Viddler and will share that as soon as it’s live. I wanted to share with the VCC and broader video commerce community some of the events from the just concluded eTail 2009 show in Scottsdale, AZ.

The VCC drinks event was a hit. Good company, good conversation. Pictured here: Scott from Vendaria, Peggy and Simon from WhatCounts, Jimmy from OnlineShoes.com, Xavier from Liveclicker and VideoRetailer.org, Kevin Ertell (formerly of Borders Books & Music), Jon Nordmark (formerly of eBags), Michelle from Pivotal Veracity.

Peggy chats with Brian while Kevin chats with Jon.

A recipe for disaster?!

Excellent panel on visualization technologies. McKay Thomas, Graphic Marketing Manager from BillardEx, Peter Cobb, SVP & Co-Founder eBags.com, Jimmy Healey, Sr. product Manager at OnlineShoes.com, Ty Ricker, VP New Business Development Rivworks.com. I had to leave early so I could catch Dave Witzig’s presentation on camcorder. eTail managed to hold both video commerce events on the last day of the conference (bad) and then they had them overlapping each other (what were they thinking?!). Really poor conference organization. Still, very well attended especially considering the poor organization on eTail’s part. Xavier from VideoRetailer.org will be posting the entire video from this panel later on the VideoRetailer.org site. I missed Peter Cobb’s presentation (though I heard it was excellent). I was also really impressed with McKay Thomas. It’s the first time I’d heard him speak. His energy, passion, and knowledge of online video in the e-commerce industry really came through - and he was an articulate speaker who demonstrated a strong command of the facts. I’d like to interview him for an upcoming episode of VCC TV.

I forgot to ask Dave Witzig from ShopNBC.com/ShopNBC.tv for an autograph! He delivered a stellar presentation on the potential of video commerce and the current state of the industry. I’ll upload it here on the VCC blog later this afternoon. Dave is really one of the pioneers in this space - actually credited with coining the term “video commerce.”

There were definitely fewer attendees at this show compared to previous shows due to the poor economic conditions and reduced travel budgets, but it was nevertheless an unforgettable experience. The last day - yesterday - was the best day for video commerce. The weather was gorgeous (80 and sunny all week).
See you at the next show and as always…
Happy Selling!
